Have you ever updated a document and then later wanted to go back to a previous version of that document? This is basically what Data Engrams™ allow you to do. They work like revision history which allows you to go back to previous versions of your data. But what are Data Engrams?
Data Engrams basically are copies of your files at different points in time. In order to create Data Engrams a technology called Mirror Shielding™ is used. Mirror Shielding protects your data by preventing it from being directly modified and instead stores the changes in an overlay. (See How Does Mirror Shielding Work? for more details.) Before any change on the overlay can be committed to disk the current disk contents can be saved off to a separate location and stored as a Data Engram.
Offline Version History
When using NeuShield, Data Engrams continue to be stored even when you are offline or not connected to the Internet.
- Version history continues to be updated on files that are edited offline
- Files can be rolled back to previous versions even without an Internet connection
